Sloe Gin

Sloe Gin is prepared from ripe sloe drupes, a tiny fruit related to the plum, and is more usually thought of as a liqueur than a gin due to its sweetness. Each sloe berry is pierced and then combined with sugar and gin in a wide-necked jar. After that, the jar is shut, stirred together, and kept in a cool, dark area. The jar is regularly turned until three months have passed, at which point the gin turns a deep ruby red color.
